BRAND STRATEGY • BRAND ICON • PACKAGING DESIGN • WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
The Boreto family, owners of olive groves in Sparta, Greece, partnered with Studio Foronda to create the brand identity and packaging for their limited-edition extra virgin olive oil. Working collaboratively, we developed the name ALE, derived from the Spartan word for olive oil, to reflect the product’s authentic heritage and exceptional quality.
Despite delays caused by Greece’s financial crisis, the project was completed successfully. Once the bottles arrived, the Boreto family launched the collection, and the entire limited production sold out.
The logo was inspired by the ancient Greek amphora. During our research, we discovered that these vessels featured a hexagonal form that allowed them to fit efficiently within a ship’s cargo hold. This historical reference became the foundation of the brand mark, connecting the identity to Greece’s rich olive oil tradition.
Elegant illustrations of olive branches, leaves, and fruit were incorporated throughout the bottle labels, creating a refined packaging system that emphasized the oil’s premium character. We also collaborated with a bottling company in Greece to ensure the design was faithfully produced.
To support the product launch, we designed a website that showcased the brand, shared the story behind ALE, and enabled customers to purchase the limited-edition olive oil online. We also created informational cards and business cards that extended the visual identity and provided customers with a cohesive brand experience.
