We recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Zenda Walker—celebrity hairstylist to icons like Lupita Nyong’o and author of the children’s book Zara’s Wash Day. Inspired by her daughter, the story follows Zara through a day of hair care while celebrating the beauty, creativity, and cultural significance of African American hairstyles. More than a wash day routine, the book highlights the deep roots of these styles in African heritage and tradition—a joyful tribute to identity, history, and self-expression
